Welcome!
Terry Ellingson and father Trueman began Ellingson Simmentals in 1990 with the purchase of
foundation females from Kenner Simmentals of Leeds and Marvin Ritz of Almont.
Through use of embryo transfer and artificial insemination the herd has grown to 100 brood cows
of both black and red color. The goal has always been to produce high performance cattle with
calving ease, high carcass traits and functional females. Sires that have had national impact on
the breed include Ellingson Black Perfector and Ellingson Legacy M229 “Olie”.
The farm also produces certified wheat and barley seed and pinto beans, along with alfalfa, corn
and grass hay for the herd.
Our annual production sale is the fourth Friday in January, held in our heated shop at the farm
called the Ellingson Event Center.
Our farm is located in northeastern North Dakota between Grand Forks and Devils Lake, just 10
miles north of Highway 2. Please stop by whenever you would like to inspect our breed improving
genetics!
